Get to Know Mark A. Stephens, DDS
Dr. Mark Stephens grew up in Bedford county and is excited to be serving the smiles of Central Virginia. If you’d like to learn more about his background, keep reading below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Stephens knew he wanted to be a dentist at the age of thirteen. He always loved working with his hands in the form of playing musical instruments and creating art. He also has a passion for science and discovering how it can be applied to benefit others. Dr. Stephens believes dentistry is the perfect combination of art, science, and healthcare.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Stephens earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Lynchburg College, now known as the University of Lynchburg. He graduated with high honors and was accepted to Virginia Commonwealth University to pursue his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. While in dental school, Dr. Stephens was awarded an extra opportunity to advance his education with training in CAD/CAM, including 3D printing and same-day crowns.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Outside the office, Dr. Stephens loves making music. He plays piano, violin, and viola. His favorite composer is Frederic Chopin, and he strives to finish learning all of Chopin’s Etudes one day. He also enjoys writing music, watching a good documentary, and reading a thought-provoking book. His husband, Jeremy, is a professor of music and teaches choir and voice and together they enjoy making music in their local church. They also enjoy house projects, traveling, and attending local theatre productions.
